Wolf Santuary, Roots Market & Bake Shop

DAY 1

Join Wolf's Bus Lines for a howling good time, including a guided tour at the Wolf Sanctuary in Lititz, Mount Hope Estate and Winery lunch, free time to explore and shop the Bird in Hand Bake Shop, and free time to shop at Roots Market in Manheim. Located in Lititz, the Wolf Sanctuary is a private rescue for displaced wolves and wolf-dogs on 80 acres of natural woodlands. Observe the wolves in their habitat, learn about their plight, and find a place in your heart for each of them on this fascinating and educational visit. For more than 40 years, the Darlington Family has offered refuge to gray wolves and wolf hybrids and are devoted to assuring the highest quality care and enrichment for their packs. Please wear comfortable footwear as some of the walking paths may be uneven. Also, dress appropriately for the outdoor weather as you will walk the grounds of the sanctuary during your visit. Next, you will have a "spooktacular" lunch at Mount Hope Estate & Winery in the Anchor & Mermaid Tavern. Please choose one of the following entrees for your lunch: Blackened Ribs with Caramelized Carrots and Skull Mushrooms OR Seared Airline Chicken with Blood Orange Reduction. The meal also comes with soup, sides, and dessert. (If you have not made your entrée choice yet, please contact our office at least one month prior to the trip's departure to give your selection.) Be sure to visit the gift shop to browse and maybe purchase some treats to take home for yourself. Afterwards, you board the motorcoach and depart for Bird in Hand Bake Shop. Bird in Hand specializes in making delicious, homemade baked goods that are unlike anywhere else! At the Bird-in-Hand Bake Shop, explore the large selection of breads, potato rolls, cinnamon buns, whoopie pies, shoo-fly pies (voted #1 ten years in a row), cookies, and so much more. The store is a destination, not just a stop. Bird in Hand offers lots of locally made Amish crafts, a large outdoor play area, a petting zoo, and a picnic area for your enjoyment. You will get to enjoy the many things that Lancaster County must experience, right in their store. We are sure you will not be disappointed. Following delicious treat-shopping, you will again board the motorcoach and depart for Manheim, to shop at Roots Market, home of the oldest single family-run country market in Lancaster County. From its humble beginnings as a poultry auction in 1925, Root's Market has evolved over the years to become a piece of Lancaster County heritage offering fresh food and a wide variety of items for sale. The market features fresh meats, deli, bakery items, flowers, handmade crafts, antiques, jewelry, collectibles, and household items from over 200 stand holders. You will depart for home at 6:00 pm, please have dinner on your own at Roots Market before leaving. Note: You may want to bring your own cooler or shopping bags to store your purchases while shopping and for the ride home.
