DAY 4

It is impossible not to feel like you've woken up in old-world Europe. New Orleans is one of the world's most fascinating cities steeped in a history of influences from Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and beyond. Enjoy brunch included at the Court of Two Sisters. It was two Creole sisters and the notions shop that they owned on this site that gave the restaurant its name. Court of Two Sisters is known for their authentic Creole dishes served in an elegant, royal setting. Because the restaurant uses only the freshest ingredients, the buffet's selections change according to the season and time of day. Next, you depart for Mardi Gras World where your admission is included for a self-guided visit. Peek behind the curtains and see one of the most colorful and vivacious festivals in the making. The lights, the kaleidoscope of colors, the festive music and joie de vivre are all here in one magical place. Their floats have been in parades in the United States and abroad. You then have free time to grab a bite of lunch at your own expense in Jackson Square. Originally known in the 18th century as "Place d'Armes" and later renamed in honor of the Battle of New Orleans hero, Andrew Jackson, it features many eclectic shops and galleries, open air cafes and artists painting and displaying their work on the outside of the iron fence. Afterwards, you gather together with your fellow passengers for a city sightseeing tour including St. Louis Cemetery which encompasses three Roman Catholic cemeteries in New Orleans. The oldest and most famous, Saint Louis Cemetery #1 was opened in 1789 replacing the city's older St. Peter as the main burial ground when the city was redesigned after a fire in 1788. Following the tour, you return to the hotel to freshen up for dinner included at the New Orleans School of Cooking where since 1980 they have introduced countless visitors from around the world to the wonderful food and rich culture of New Orleans and Louisiana as a whole. The school is located in a renovated molasses warehouse built in the early 1800's in the heart of the French Quarter. At the conclusion of your meal, you can go back to the hotel for the night or enjoy some time in the French Quarter.

Keep your eyes peeled for the local inhabitants and be sure to keep your hands and feet in the boat. Afterwards, enjoy a guided tour at the Houmas House Estate & Gardens. Guides in period dress use the artifacts, furniture, artwork and stories of past owners to explain how this manor home grew into the grand estate it is today. 38 acres of formal gardens provide a leisurely self-guided tour with walking paths and sitting nooks throughout.
