DAY 4

Wake to breakfast included at the hotel before you check out and bid a fond farewell to beautiful Mackinac Island via ferry ride to St. Ignace. Once on land you will board the motorcoach and travel to Dearborn, Michigan. Lunch will be on your own prior to arrival in Dearborn. Upon arrival, you will have admission included for a self-guided, behind-the-scenes tour of the Ford Rouge Factory where they assemble the Ford F-150 Trucks. Visit the Legacy Theatre for a short film featuring rarely-seen historic footage from the Henry Ford archives where you'll learn about his triumphs and tragedies that took place at the Rouge and how his ideas became real and helped define American manufacturing and industry. Experience jaw-dropping special effects during the multisensory film in Manufacturing Innovation Theatre. The film comes complete with vibrating seats, gusts of wind and winking robots…called a "wild ride" and reminiscent of a "Fast & Furious" action film by one reviewer from The Detroit News. Take an elevator ride up to the Observation Deck to see a remarkable display of industry in motion as F-150's are assembled on the plant floor below. Also, get a bird's-eye view of the famous "Living Roof". This eco-industrial wonder - the largest lining roof in the world - blankets the top of the final assembly building. Enjoy an excursion into a realm where environmental innovation and industrial production work together to put an entirely new face on modern manufacturing. Following your heart-pumping and fascinating experience at the Ford Rouge Factory, you will depart for check-in at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Allen Park (313-383-9790) for an overnight stay. The hotel features an indoor pool, fitness center and complimentary Wi-Fi. After a brief time to freshen up, you have dinner included at a local restaurant and will return to the hotel for the night afterwards.

B, D

DAY 5

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before you check out and depart for The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. Step into a world where past innovations fuel the imagination of generations to come. The indoor museum holds artifacts of immense American significance, such as John F. Kennedy's presidential limousine and the Rosa Parks bus. The outdoor Greenfield Village features nearly one hundred historical buildings moved from their original locations, including Thomas Edison's laboratory and the Wright Brothers' bicycle shop, brought to life by costumed interpreters. Lunch is on your own today. Next, you depart for Perrysburg, Ohio where you will check in to the Hilton Garden Inn Toledo Perrysburg where you stayed the first night of our journey. Dinner this evening is on your own with the rest of the night to enjoy the hotel amenities.
