DAY 1
Take time to stop and witness the glorious tulips that color the countryside in Holland, MI and explore the famed Tulip Festival. Your journey begins with appropriate meal and rest stops at your expense enroute to Findlay, OH where you will check in at the Drury Inn & Suites Findlay (419-422-9700) for an overnight stay. The Drury features an indoor pool and whirlpool, 24-hour fitness center and a business center with complimentary Wi-Fi. Guest amenities include a microwave, refrigerator and hairdryer. Kick back and relax for the remainder of the night.
DAY 2
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel this morning before you depart for a scenic drive to Holland, Michigan where your first stop will be in the delightful downtown where you can have lunch on your own and at your expense. Mid-afternoon, a local guide will join us to share the fascinating history of Holland and its famous Tulip Festival. Historic and Hip, downtown Holland's cobblestone sidewalks line the streets with over 100 unique and locally owned shops, galleries and eateries. In addition, it has been named one of "America's Prettiest Towns" by Forbes Magazine, and an "All-American City" by the National Civic League. After your tour, you will check into the Hampton Inn Holland (616-399-8500) for a two-night stay. Guestrooms feature a microwave, mini refrigerator, coffeemaker, hairdryer and complimentary Wi-Fi. Hotel amenities include an indoor pool, fitness center, business center with complimentary Wi-Fi and onsite restaurant and bar. After a brief time to freshen up, you depart for dinner at a local restaurant. You then return to the hotel to relax and unwind for the night.
B, DDAY 3
Enjoy a deluxe continental breakfast included at the hotel before you board the motorcoach and get ready for a day bursting with color and culture. You take a short drive to the Tulip Immersion Garden where Dutch horticulturalist Ibo Gulsen artfully displays 65,000+ tulips in raised beds on the glorious grounds of Beechwood Church. Become immersed in an eye level exhibit featuring tulips of all varieties and colors creating an amazing photographic experience. Next, it's off to Evergreen Commons for a Dutch-inspired lunch and special style show. The famous Dutch Dancers of Holland will delight you with their signature Dutch Klompen Dance, which features the dancers wearing wooden shoes and their authentic replica Dutch Costumes. Afterwards, you depart for the magnificent Windmill Island Gardens, home to 'de Zwaan,' the last working windmill to leave the Netherlands. 'de Zwaan' is the highlight of the park and stands amongst 36 acres of exhibits, gardens and natural areas. The mill still turns and grinds grain into flour and you can tour the five floors of the historic windmill. You then have free time to enjoy the Tulip Festival at Centennial Park. For more than 90 years, visitors have gathered to marvel at the beauty of over 5 million tulips blooming throughout the city and experience the traditions that have made this the nation's Best Flower Festival, America's Best Small-Town Festival and Tulip Festival of the Year 2017-18. But wait there is more, wanna get your klomp on? Expert Dutch Dancers will be ready to teach you how to dance like a pro. Your day concludes with a memorable "Captain's Feast" dinner cruise, along with relaxing music and scenic views aboard the charming Holland Princess. Your day comes to an end, and it is time to board the motorcoach and return to the hotel for the night.
B, L, DDAY 4
Rise and shine to a deluxe continental breakfast included at the hotel before you pack up and depart for Window on the Waterfront, a 30-acre park filled with over 100,000 tulips, life-size statues in traditional Dutch dress, scenic overlooks and walking paths that allow for you to stroll through the fields and enjoy wonderful photo opportunities. You then take a short drive to Holland State Park for the opportunity to see "Big Red", an iconic red lighthouse situated at the entrance to the Holland Channel and Lake Michigan. Known for its striking color and picturesque location, Holland Harbor Lighthouse has a long history with the current steel structure built back in 1907. Your final stop before departing Holland is at Veldheer Tulip Gardens, Holland's only tulip farm and perennial garden. What started as a hobby farm in 1950 with only 100 red tulips and 300 white tulips, has today blossomed into Veldheer's planting over 5.5 million tulips for you to stroll through and enjoy. Be sure to also visit Deklomp Wooden Shoe & Delft Factory, located adjacent to Veldheers and featuring Dutch pottery famous around the world. The only one of its kind in North America, they offer over 400 different hand painted Dutch pottery items. From here, you begin your journey toward home with lunch and dinner on your own enroute to your last night's stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Toledo South-Perrysburg (419-931-9999).
