Wine, Dine & Cruise In Williamsport, PA

Day 1

Join us for delightfully "sweet" trip to northeast PA for some candy, a leisurely cruise and chef-prepared cuisine. Our day begins with a stop in Allenwood, PA at Purity Candy's Factory Store. Since 1907, this business has been all about natural ingredients, simple machines, and carefully tested recipes. Purity's founder, Ford G. Birchard, believed that making small batches by hand contributed to his candy's outstanding reputation for quality, and that still rings true for its owners today. The good news is that there are no calories in the sweet scent that greets you as you enter the building. Browse the shop and perhaps treat yourself, or the candy lovers in your life, to some "chocolatey goodness" from Purity Candy Company. Everyone will receive a little goodie before leaving the store. Next, we are off to Montgomery, PA to learn about the vines and wines at Four Friends Vineyard and Winery. What started out with help from good friends planting 50 Delaware vines and 50 Cayuga vines by hand with pick and shovel, Four Friends has developed into a fabulous vineyard and winery offering a wide array of table wines from extra dry to sweet. We will learn more about Four Friends, as well as enjoy a tasting of a few select wines. Before departure, you will be farewelled with an extra special treat. There will be some time to browse and purchase wine to take home as well. At the conclusion of our visit, we will depart for Williamsport, PA for lunch at Le Jeune Chef which is the teaching restaurant on the campus of Pennsylvania School of Technology. During our visit, we will learn about the school's culinary program, plus enjoy lunch with a dessert chef demonstration of the restaurant's signature Chocolate Soup. A vegetarian selection is also available upon request. (NOTE: If you have not contacted Wolf's Bus Lines with an entrée choice, please call at least one month prior to the trip date.) Afterwards, we will board the motorcoach for a short ride to the banks of the Susquehanna River for a leisurely, narrated cruise aboard the Hiawatha Riverboat. Relax and enjoy learning about the river's role in making Williamsport the lumber capital of the world in the mid-1800s. The cruise is topped off with a special sweet treat. We will depart for home after we return to the dock. A fast-food stop at your expense will be made on the way home.
