DAY 1
Jamestown Settlement: Following appropriate meal and rest stops at your expense, you arrive in Jamestown, Virginia to take a step back in time at the Jamestown Settlement where you will meet a local guide for a Walking Tour of America's first permanent English colony. Learn about the Virginia Indians who occupied the landscape for centuries, the arrival of English colonists to Jamestown in 1607 and the first documented arrival of West Central Africans in 1619, leading to cultural encounters and events that planted the seeds of a new nation. Afterwards, you depart for check-in at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Williamsburg (757-941-3000) for a two-night stay. Hotel amenities include an indoor pool, fitness center, business center, and coin operated laundry facility. In-room features include mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, hairdryer, iron/ironing board, and complimentary internet service. Dinner this evening is included at a local restaurant and followed by return to the hotel to settle in for the night.
DDAY 2
Celebrate Yorktown - Yorktown Victory Parade: Enjoy a delightful breakfast included at the hotel before you depart for an enlightening day full of celebration and history beginning with the 250th Anniversary Yorktown Victory Parade and Festivities. This spectacular, once-in-a-lifetime event marks the historic end of the Revolutionary War with a grand patriotic parade featuring Continental Army reenactors, vibrant fife and drum corps, and appearances by historical figures like General Washington. The town-wide festivities will include powerful artillery demonstrations, living history programs, and special exhibits, immersing guests in the triumph of the American and French alliance. (PLEASE NOTE: There is NO seating arranged for the parade. You are welcome to bring a bag chair to sit and watch the parade. Please keep in mind that the bus may not be accessible during your time in Yorktown, so you will be responsible for your chair until you board the bus for departure). Lunch is on your own and at your expense at Riverwalk Landing in Yorktown. Mid-afternoon you board the Schooner Alliance for a scenic cruise on the York River. You may witness dolphins or osprey, 18th century homes, Naval warships or submarines, the Revolutionary Battlefield and more. Upon back on land, you return to the hotel for a brief time to freshen up before you have a bountiful, buffet dinner included at Captain George's Seafood Restaurant, known for its array of fresh local catches, crab legs, and non-seafood options. You then head back to the hotel for the night.
B, DDAY 3
Colonial Williamsburg: Wake to breakfast included at the hotel before you pack-up and meet your local guide for a narrated Walking Tour of Colonial Williamsburg. Discover the rich history of Colonial Williamsburg as your guide leads you though the meticulously preserved historic area, featuring an essential visit to the majestic Governor's Palace, the official residence of the colonial governor. Colonial Williamsburg was the political, social and cultural capital of Britain's largest, wealthiest and most populous colony. It encompasses more than 500 buildings and 90 acres of magnificent gardens. In the shops, taverns, government buildings, homes and streets, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, George Mason and other Virginia patriots debated the ideas of liberty, independence, and personal freedoms that led to the founding of American democracy. Lunch will be on your own in the vibrant Merchant's Square, allowing for some free time to explore the unique shops and boutiques. At the conclusion of your visit, you bid farewell and return home carrying back memories of America's colonial past and grand Yorktown 250th celebration. Appropriate meal and rest stops at your expense will be made along the way.
