DAY 3

Enjoy breakfast at the resort before you are joined by a local guide who will provide fascinating narrative about the Rice Culture and Plantations, and why rice is called "Carolina Gold". Charleston is famous for its unique culture which blends traditional Southern U.S., English, French and West African elements. Charleston is also known for its local seafood which plays a key role in the city's renowned cuisine and is also strongly influenced by British and French elements. Upon arrival in downtown Charleston, you will have some free time to explore the open-air market shopping for that perfect souvenir such as sweetgrass baskets weaved at the market, a trade passed down through the generations. Next, you have lunch included at Hyman's Seafood that has been in the same location for almost 130 years and is well-known for serving fabulous, fresh seafood. Following lunch, you will take a short walking tour (approx. 3-4 city blocks, please wear comfortable footwear for walking) to view the Charleston Battery homes. The southern boundary of Charleston is fortified by a structure known as The Battery, a venerable seawall constructed to protect the city from incursions both tropical and military. Each brick and cobblestone narrates a story of Charleston's past, and today you get to enjoy a glimpse outside of these storied and beautiful homes, as well as a look inside the Edmondston-Alston House located along Charleston Harbor. The Edmondston-Alston House, circa 1825, presents a unique history of the people, both free and enslaved, who loived and labored on this property. Commanding a magnificent view of the Charleston Harbor, the house has a collection of furniture, silver and decorative arts, largely originals to those who owned the house, constitutes a rich, complex history of Charleston in the 19th century. One of the oldest houses along the High Battery, it withstood the American Civil War, the Earthquake of 1886 and numerous hurricanes. After your visit, you board the motorcoach and travel back to Myrtle Beach to either spend the evening at the resort and dinner on your own or explore Barefoot Landing with a delightful array of shops and eateries to have dinner on your own.

DAY 4

Your day begins with breakfast included at the resort and followed by a fascinating and educational experience shell hunting. Join Dr. Ashley Oliphant, a nationally recognized shark tooth hunter and sheller, who will give a talk about shelling strategies and the identification of local shell species. Haven't you often wondered what came out of the shells that you have strolled on the beach in search of and collected? Here is your chance to learn a little more about them. You will board the coach and hit the best beach to collect shells with Dr. Oliphant. At the conclusion of your adventure, you return to the resort for time to relax on the beach or at the resort and have lunch on your own and at your expense. Early evening, you depart for dinner included at Benjamin's Calabash, home of fresh local seafood daily. The award-winning buffet is famous for introducing the Myrtle Beach area to cooking seafood Calabash-style, which is lightly battered and deep-fried. The night concludes with entertainment at the Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre. Experience authentic LIVE music and comedy by a professional, star-studded cast and band that will truly entertain and captivate its audience with an evening of entertainment that leaves a lasting impression on your heart and soul.
