The Wolfe House/Memorial is a state historic site, house and museum. The American author, Thomas Wolfe, lived in the home during his boyhood. Wolfe, considered by many to be one of the giants of the 20th-century American literature, immortalized his childhood home in the epic autobiographical novel, "Look Homeward, Angel". Following your visit, the coach will transport you to Biltmore Village. The Biltmore Village offers you ample choices of restaurants, cafes and bistros for the purchase of lunch on your own and perhaps some souvenir shopping if time permits. Following lunch, you will be taken to view the Gingerbread Houses (location to be determined) that are elaborately decorated and on display this time of year during the National Gingerbread House Competition. Next stop is Antler Hill Village & Winery at Biltmore where you can sample and purchase any of over 20 handcrafted wines. Or perhaps you would enjoy stepping into the lives of families who lived on the estate raising livestock, tending crops and working at the Biltmore Dairy in the 1890's at the Farm of Antler Village. Relax, stroll and buildup your appetite in preparation for your dinner this evening which is arranged for you at the Deerpark Restaurant where mouth-watering Southern regional cuisine served buffet-style in a peaceful, natural setting with plenty of rustic charm and sweeping views of the estate await you. After dinner, enjoy Biltmore House by candlelight and firelight reminiscent of the first Vanderbilt family Christmas in 1895. Your self-guided evening tour of the House involves live music by choirs and soloists, and enhanced by more than 70 exquisitely decorated Christmas trees, miles of garland, hundreds of poinsettias and everything decked out for the holidays in a grand Vanderbilt fashion.
